In each step of the re-building of the University it is the inten- tion to bear in mind always the im ortance of co-operation with the Universities and educat cnl institutions of China. I am sure the importance of lision with China is going to be a great factor in the future history of this University which numbers amongst its first students Dr. Sun Yat-sen. When I was in Chung-king, the Generalissimo isplayed great interest in the re-building of this University and spoke to me about the importance of getting the University going again as soon as possible, a view which I natur- ally very much shared with him.
